Current Progress of work:

1 Building contact mic with piezo transducer type I
- Workable but results not strong enough
- Detects heartbeat very faintly
> Without cotton pad(s) = A lot of noise + no detection of heartbeat
> With 1 cotton pad = Less noise, no detection of heartbeat
> With 2 cotton pads = No noise, faint heartbeat.

2 Building contact mic with piezo transducer type II
- Not workable

3 Building contact mic with piezo transducer type III
- not workable

4 Connecting contact mic type 1 to LED
- Need very strong vibrations to make the LED light up
- No direct supply from mic to LED
- Need time relay for LED
- Need pre-amp or DIY amplifier to amplify the heart beat.

5 Build an electronic stethoscope
- Not workable
- Unusual circuit
> The + and -9v must be supplied by 2 9v batts wired in series and tapped at the junction
- Involved Victor and Cedric from TP to assist me
> Circuit still not workable
- Involved Sum and Ong from Hitachi to assit me
> With Sum’s and Ong’s help, the circuit was working via a mic but it was picking up both audio conversations as well as heart beat which was definitely not ideal.

Textronics Inc (http://www.textronicsinc.com) develops wearables sensors and is the creator behind the Numetrex electronic sensing technology called textro-sensors.

Textro-sensors are non-invasive physiological monitoring system for dual heart-rate/respiration measurement. Sounds awesome to work on however it is only available in mass production.
